That’s right, folks—today, we’re putting the two biggest providers of plant-based memory foam in direct competition!

Amerisleep and Loom & Leaf both have great reviews and plenty of adoring, happily snoozing fans.

You’re not gonna go wrong with either mattress!

This is especially true given that they have pretty similar price points.

There’s certainly no easy choice here, so take a thorough read and see what sounds like the best fit for you!

Amerisleep OverviewAmerisleep logo

Amerisleep was founded in 2010, making them a primary player in the online mattress industry.

They offer a 20-year warranty, which is one of the best in the business.

All of their mattresses are manufactured right here in the U.S.A., so you aren’t paying for any crazy international shipping fees!

They pride themselves on using eco-friendly plant-based materials so you can be sure your sleep isn’t coming at an environmental cost.

Plus, if you really fall in love with their mattresses, Amerisleep also offers pillows, sheets, and bed bases, so you can supply your whole sleep system!

Looking at mattresses specifically, they have an impressive array of options.

There are five different Amerisleep mattresses, numbered AS1 through AS5.

With these options, Amerisleep is able to cover a wide range of comfort levels and price points, from the firm and relatively cheap A1 to the cushy (and pricey) AS5.

The AS3, with a medium firmness, is their most popular model, since it provides good support for any kind of sleeper.

Amerisleep Pros

This is a high-end mattress, so there are a lot of pros!

First off, Amerisleep in general has some of the best reviews I’ve seen for any online mattress company, so you knowyou’re getting something good.

Looking deeper, though, the benefits just keep coming.

Since it’s a plant-based foam mattress, most of the common complaints with foams have been thoroughly addressed.

An Amerisleep mattress won’t sleep hot, it doesn’t have off-gassing, and it will last several years longer than most foam mattresses.

Sounds amazing, right?

Their manufacturing process is pretty remarkable, too.

Thanks to a firm commitment to environmental sustainability, Amerisleep uses no harsh chemicals in producing their foam.

They also recycle their production scrap internally, meaning there’s essentially zero waste in their production process.

And with all the air filtration they’ve put in place, as they like to say, air leaves their factory cleaner than it went in!

The cover on an Amerisleep mattress is worthy of particular attention.

the american flag

It’s made with this material called Celliant that’s supposed to help move heat away from the body in a highly efficient way.

Plus, the cover is very stretchy, which allows the foam in the mattress to closely contour to your body.

Setting all those benefits aside for a moment—not that you should ignore them, of course!—I’d like to point out that this is an exceptionally comfortable mattress.

There isn’t a whole lot of jargon to throw around here; it’s simply a great mattress.

And, thanks to their 100-night trial period and free shipping (including returns), there’s no risk in giving it a try.

Amerisleep Cons

Honestly, I’m having trouble finding things to talk about here.

There have to be downsides, right?

Well, you’d certainly think so, but the trouble with these high-end mattresses is that they’re incredibly well designed.

The only real downside—and if you haven’t skipped ahead to the Loom & Leaf section, it’s a similar story there—is the price.

The Amerisleep AS3, their most popular model, costs $1199 at queen size.

That’s a few C-notes above your average mattress, for sure!

It’s still cheaper than some of the old-school giants like Tempur-Pedic, but for an online mattress retailer, anything about $1,000 is considered fairly pricey.

If that’s about what you’re willing to spend, though, you really can’t do much better than a mattress from Amerisleep.

For More Info on Amerisleep

The best place to find up-to-date info, a full list of FAQs, and the occasional coupon is—naturally—Amerisleep’s website.

But, if you want a third-party perspective on their products, well, that’s what our reviews are for!

Our reviews are also a great place to compare specific aspects of different mattresses you’re considering, so if—say—motion isolation is really important to you, come see what we have to say!

Loom and Leaf OverviewLoom & Leaf logo

Loom & Leaf is owned by Saatva, one of the best innerspring mattresses currently available.

Each of Saatva’s mattresses is presented independently, rather than being grouped together, which makes a lot of sense!

After all, each of their offerings is wildly different.

The Loom & Leaf, for instance, is an eco-friendly memory foam mattress that aims at the high-end market without going past the borderline into luxury territory.

Like Amerisleep, Loom & Leaf prioritizes an eco-friendly manufacturing process, so you don’t have to worry about harming the environment!

They aren’t quite as rock solid in their green guarantee—Amerisleep takes the lead in that respect—but make no mistake: Loom & Leaf is still a great choice for the environmentalists out there.

Loom and Leaf Pros

There’s a lot to love about a Loom & Leaf mattress.

For starters, all the benefits of plant-based memory foam are present here.

There’s high bounce-back, no off-gassing, and plenty of cooling properties.

They also make a point of not using any phthalates, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, or other icky, harmfulchemicals that can be common in other foam mattresses.

One pro Loom & Leaf has over Amerisleep is the use of a cooling gel in their top layer of foam, which gives them a slight edge in the “cool sleeping” category!

Plus, just like Amerisleep, Loom & Leaf is simply a high-quality mattress.

You’re not going to get a bad night’s sleep on one of these.

The only question is whether you might sleep better on something else, which brings us to the question of cons.

Loom and Leaf Cons

Again, there aren’t a whole lot of problems here.

a textile being made

Loom and Leaf only offers two levels of support as opposed to Amerisleep’s five different models, but that’s not much of a downside.

However, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the most significant difference between these two mattresses: the price.

They’re in the same ballpark, but the Amerisleep A3 clocks in at $1199, while the Loom & Leaf costs a solid $1499.

That’s not enough of a difference to rule it out automatically, but still, three hundred dollars is a chunk of change you shouldn’t spend without thinking it through.

For More Info About Loom and Leaf

As with Amerisleep, the best place to find basic info about Loom & Leaf is their website.

But, if you want our unbiased thoughts on this mattress, come have a gander at our reviews!

Amerisleep comes out with a lower price, more choices, and a slightly better eco-friendly process.

On the other hand, Loom & Leaf wins at sleeping cool and completely eliminating the new-mattress smell.

When it comes down to it, the choice is yours!

And don’t just take my word for it—before you buy anything, check our reviews, check out the websites, and see all the facts for yourself.

It’s important to stay informed, after all.

Best of luck in your mattress shopping, and happy sleeping!
