Complete Casper Nova Mattress Review
The Casper Nova Mattress is one of the many different mattresses in the Casper lineup.
The Nova stands out from the other Casper beds like the Wave Hybrid for being much softer.
Out of the many different Nova beds that exist, we find this one to stand out well for all types of sleepers, but not for those who need high firmness levels.
What Type of Mattress is the Casper Nova Mattress?
This is a good option to consider if you want a hybrid mattress that is softer than your typical hybrid mattress.
We find this mattress to be suitable for many types of sleepers, including back, side, stomach, and combo sleepers.
Many people are turned off by other hybrid mattresses because they are too firm for their needs.
However, one of the benefits of a hybrid mattress like this one is that it can provide the plush comfort of an all-foam bed with a higher level of durability.
After all, hybrid mattresses tend to last longer than all-foam beds.
This is a mid-range priced mattress that many people would be happy to pitch forth extra money for these reasons.
How Firm is this Mattress?
As we have tried to make clear throughout this review, the Casper Nova Mattress stands out the most from other hybrid mattresses from Casper and other manufacturers for being softer than normal.
We rate the firmness of this mattress to be a 5 out of 10.
Typically, hybrid mattresses that we review will be a 6.5 out of 10 or even higher on the firmness scale.
For this reason, this is also one of the softest hybrid mattresses on the market!
How Many Layers Does it Have?
In total, there are four layers included in this mattress.
Starting from the bottom, we find a coil system that helps provide plenty of airflow to the mattress.
Then, we have Zoned Support Pro layer that has 7 different support zones.
These help keep your body supported at all different points of possible pressure.
Finally, the top two layers are Airscape foam layers that provide both comfort and ventilation so that things don’t get too hot.
- Ventilated Resilient Springs
- Zones Support Foam Layer
- Second Airscape Foam layer
- First Airscape Foam Layer
Does the Casper Nova Mattress Sleep Hot?
Since this mattress contains three layers of foam at the top and is a bit softer than other hybrid beds, expect a little heat with this mattress.
However, it’s worth mentioning that the two foam layers at the top are ventilated to provide a cooler-than-average sleeping experience.
At the same time, the coils at the bottom will help to keep you from sinking too much into the bed.
All-in-all, this mattress sleeps slightly cooler than a typical foam bed.
How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?
This bed will have a lower level of motion transfer due to the three layers of foam that we find at the top of the bed.
It is worth mentioning, though, that coil systems will generate a lot of motion transfer.
Since this is a hybrid, though, we find a slightly lower level of motion transfer than what is found in coil beds.
The same could be said about the level of sinkage.
The foam will help you sink in a lot, whereas the coils will keep you elevated.
When using this mattress, you will sink in a little more than on other hybrids due to its lower level of firmness.
Does the Casper Nova Mattress Smell When New?
When you purchase a new bed, it is common for there to be some sort of new bed smell
This bed will typically have a mild odor that you experience when it comes out of the package.
However, this is nothing to worry about.
Simply let it air out for a week or so and you will not notice a smell at all!
Does it Require a Foundation?
Just like any other mattress, it is recommended that you purchase a foundation with the Casper Nova.
This will both extend the lifespan of your mattress as well as potentially unlock greater capabilities.
Getting an adjustable bed, for example, can make it so you can best customize your sleeping position.
What Type of Cover does it Have?
There is a non-removable cover that is included on this mattress.
Made of cloth, it helps to protect the foam layers inside.
If you wish to extend the life of this mattress, we recommend purchasing a separate cover that you can place on top of the included cover.
How Durable is the Casper Nova Mattress?
Hybrid mattresses like this one will typically last anywhere between 7-10 years.
Since the manufacturer has a limited warranty of 10-years, we anticipate that it will last around this amount of time.
If you run into defects, you simply need to call Casper and have them take care of it.
From our point of view, there is no reason that this mattress won’t last even longer if you take good care of it.
How Much Does the Casper Nova Mattress Cost?
The Casper Nova Mattress is a mid-range option that is suitable for those who have a sizeable budget.
Starting at XXX for Queen, this isn’t the cheapest nor the most expensive mattress of this caliber.
As we can see above, the price range for this mattress is very reasonable compared to many other hybrid beds on the market.
Warranty & Trial Period of the Casper Nova Mattress
The warranty and trial period of the Casper Nova Mattress is pretty average when we compare it with other manufacturers.
What we find here is a 10-year warranty alongside a 100-night trial.
This is a good deal, still, since you will have 100 nights of risk-free sleeping and testing before you make your final commitment.
At the same time, any sort of defect will be automatically covered by Casper during a period of 10 years.
Casper Nova Mattress Review – Our Verdict
As a whole, we find the Casper Nova Mattress to be a great choice for anybody that wants a hybrid that is softer than most other hybrids.
In reality, this mattress is softer than many other all-foam beds!
