Full Purple Hybrid Premier Mattress Review
The Hybrid Premier is the most luxurious option that Purple provides.
In addition, it comes equipped with the signature Purple Grid for no-pressure support.
It has the same responsive coils we saw on the Purple Hybrid, and a new, more breathable cover.
This is by far the best option out of the Purple series for side sleepers and heavier sleepers, as it offers the most responsive and supportive features for their various pressure points.
However, with the excessive pricing difference between the addition of one inch of Purple Grid, we don’t anticipate everyone running to buy a Purple Hybrid Premier mattress.
While there is significant value-added from the Purple Mattress up to the Hybrid Premier, the price difference doesn’t seem to quite add up.
What Type of Mattress is the Purple Hybrid Premier Mattress?
Customers can choose whether they’d like a 3” or 4” Purple Grid in their Purple Hybrid Premier mattress.
This allows people to cater to what they want.
For side sleepers, being able to have 4” of the cushiony support will greatly help relieve the pressure on their shoulders and hips while boosting the other parts of the body that need it.
The coils included in this mattress allow for people to balance between sinking and floating on top – so for those that need to move around frequently, this mattress is a good option for you.
How Firm is this Mattress?
As a whole, we would rate this mattress at about a 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale.
Depending on which option you choose, the 3” or 4” Purple Grid, will change the rating of this scale a bit.
Instead of a memory foam that presses in when slept on, the grid can buckle and conforms to the sleeper’s body.
The edge support has grown from the Hybrid to the Hybrid Premier, as this mattress has a 3” edge support.
This ability to change the amount of cushion and softness of the mattress offers quite a bit of customization for those who purchase this mattress
How Many Layers Does it Have?
These responsive coils are what creates the bounce and comfort we see carry through to the top of the mattress and balanced with the grid.
After the coils comes another transition layer, and th
en into the famous Purple Grid – with an option for 3” or 4” of the material.
Depending on how soft/supported you’d like to be while sleeping, the difference between one inch of the Purple Grid can be quite shocking.
The StretchMax cover sits on top of the grid for an even deeper level of comfort.
Does the Purple Hybrid Premier Mattress Sleep Hot?
Those worried about choosing the 4” over the 3” of the Purple Grid usually this way because they believe the polyfoam will retain body heat.
However, they will be pleasantly surprised to learn that this grid is designed specially not to retain heat.
With the built-in grid wit
h thousands of air pockets for heat to move through, as well as the new ultra-breathable cover, the Purple Hybrid Premier mattress doesn’t get too hot.
How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?
As we noticed in other Purple mattresses, the structure of the Purple Premier Hybrid mattress is fairly good at being able to absorb motion.
The Purple Hybrid Premier can boost anyone laying on their backs, as the support is spread out over a larger area.
Those that lay on their sides will experience a bit more sinkage as the poly foam absorbs their pressure points and cushions them.
Does it Have any Smell?
Most packaged mattresses do not carry smells with them once they’ve been released from their packaging.
The very few that do experience a chemical smell from their Purple Hybrid Premier mattress should allow the mattress to air out on its own for a few hours
Usually, any unpleasant aroma will go away within a short period of time like this.
Does it Require a Foundation?
For most mattresses, having a solid foundation can boost its longevity and protect it from changing shape or altering itself.
Purple recommends that a solid foundation be used for all of its mattresses.
However, they do believe you should stay away from box springs as they can damage them.
What Type of Cover does it Have?
The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress comes with a StretchMax cover similar to the Purple Hybrid.
However, this model has the ability to provide extra airflow through its side panels.
This cover, like all of the other Purple covers we have seen, is not machine washable.
Therefore, we recommend you use the Purple Mattress Protector, as it will increase its longevity.
Purple Hybrid Premier Mattress Mattress Durability
We expect the Purple Hybrid Premier mattress to survive for quite some time with proper maintenance.
Because of the materials (polyfoam and durable coils), we don’t see the construction of the mattress breaking down any time soon.
Another thing to mention here is that all Purple mattresses have a 10-year warranty and a 100-night trial period while you get used to your mattress.
How Much Does the Purple Hybrid Premier Mattress Cost?
This is a premium bed that requires a nice investment.
These are the prices for the 3″ version:
At the time of this review, the following are the lowest prices we can find:
Keep in mind that the 4″ version costs about $1000 more, which seems a bit pricey in our eyes.
Even though Purple does offer sales occasionally, we are not sure that warrants a purchase.
100 Night Risk-Free Sleep Trial and Guarantee
Purple offers 100% money back guarantee for the first 100 nights.
This risk-free trial allows customers to try the new mattress in the comfort of their homes, for a relatively long period of time.
If you are convinced in 3 months, it’s better to return it, especially considering that the operation is completely free for you and there are no restocking fees.
Just contact customer support and they will organize the pick up and disposal of your mattress.
Ho is the Purple Warranty?
The Purple presents with a 10 year limited warranty.
Please refer to the Purple Hybrid review for more details.
Purple Hybrid Premier Mattress Review – Our Verdict
One thing that the Purple Hybrid Premier mattress has done a good job with its cooling technology.
With the amount of airflow available in this model, many people that overheat would love having this mattress.
Combined with the Purple Plush Pillow, this might be a match made in heaven for those that tend to get too hot at night!
In terms of value for your money, we just really can’t justify the cost in terms of what you’re getting.
Compared to the original Purple Mattress, the Purple Hybrid Premier is a step up – but we are not sure it warrants that large of a price increase.
If you would like to see another great Purple Mattress, check out the Purple Hybrid!
