Complete Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Review

If you are a fan of latex foam and are already aware of Saatva products like the Saatva Solaire, the Saatva Original, and the Saatva HD mattresses, then the Saatva Latex Hybrid might have crossed your eye.

This is a good option to consider among an already-wide and diverse lineup of quality mattresses from the Saatva mattress brand.

This one stands out from other mattresses in this brand for his hybrid design that features latex foam.

As we will explore below, this mattress is very high-quality and the most suitable choice for a particular set of sleepers.

View of the Saatva Latex Hybrid from the sideWhat Type of Mattress is the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress?

This is a hybrid mattress, meaning that both foam and a coil system are included in the construction of this mattress.

Since this mattress is made with latex foam, you should expect a higher level of firmness.

At the same time, the coil system will do an even greater job ensuring that you sleep on top of the bed.

This leaves us with a mattress that is firmer than average and sleeps very cool.

However, this also comes at the cost of higher motion transfer.

Additionally, many people who sleep on their side will find this bed to be too firm.

How Firm is this Mattress?

As we want to make clear, this mattress is firmer than your typical hybrid bed.

We would rate this bed as being an 8 out of 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmness possible.

This makes this mattress one of the firmest in our collection of reviews.

Therefore, this is best for back sleepers and heavy individuals who sink into softer beds easily.

How Many Layers Does it Have?

If we include the cover of this mattress, there are 5 layers in total.

Starting from the bottom, we find an organic eco loft pad that helps support the coil system.

The coil system spreads across the entire mattress to evenly provide support across the edges and in the center.

Talalay latex is the foam that is placed right above the coil system to add some extra cushion to the bed.

Finally, the top of the bed features an organic wool layer that is placed right underneath the organic cover.

Does the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Sleep Hot?

One of the prime features of this bed is that it will not sleep hot.

The coil system paired along with strong latex foam will keep you on top of the bed.

As a result, you won’t sink into the bed and wake up in a pool of sweat.

How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?

Due to the presence of a coil system in this bed, we find an above-average level of motion transfer.

Therefore, this might not be the best option for couples who are concerned with waking each other up while tossing and turning.

Due to the high level of firmness with the latex foam and coil system, the level of sinknage with this bed is very minimal.

Does the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Smell When New?

Just as we find with many beds, there might be a slight new mattress smell that you notice when you take this bed out of the package.

Usually, this is very minimal and nothing to worry about.

At the same time, you won’t have to worry about the smell being due to harmful chemicals.

If you notice a smell, let the mattress air out for a week or so and it will quickly dissipate.

Does it Require a Foundation?

Just like any other high-quality mattress, we recommend that you get a foundation along with this product.

Although a foundation like the Reverie 8Q is not necessary, it will keep your new Saatva mattress in tip-top condition for as long as possible.

In addition, an adjustable base will make it easier for you to adjust your sleeping position.

Getting the Saatva Dreams Pillow is another option to consider while you are getting your new Saatva mattress ready for use.

What Type of Cover does it Have?

This mattress has a non-removable cover that is placed right above the layers described above. The mattress with sheets on it

Made from organic cotton, wool, and other natural products, this cover creates a nice layer of protection.

As would always be the case with other mattresses with non-removable covers, we recommend that you get a separate removable and washable cover to place on top of the mattress.

This is a good way to ensure that your new latex hybrid will last as long as possible.

How Durable is the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress?

As we have covered in our guide on the average life span of a mattress, latex beds will typically last between 10 to 12 years.

This is because latex foam is generally a lot more resistant to heavy bodyweight and will retain its original form for longer periods of time.

The part that is really telling about this mattress’ durability is the 15-year warranty, which is above average.

When used properly and taken care of, we see no reason that you cannot make this mattress last even longer than this period of time!

How Much Does the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Cost?

The price of this bed is right around what we would expect for one that is high-quality and durable.

Although many people might not anticipate spending that much on a firm hybrid latex like this one, other people will spend a long time searching before they realize this is the bed they have been dreaming of!
