Full Saatva Solaire Mattress Review

There are no hoses or pumps to hide when it comes to the Saatva Solaire!

This is an airbed that has a good design and allows customizable firmness.

Additionally, the mattress is built with the environment in mind: It is made of natural latex and eco-friendly memory foam, along with organic cotton.

While the price is higher than the Saatva HD and Saatva Classic, it is well within reason for the features it has.

It is also cheaper than most similar mattresses in the industry.

What Type of Mattress is the Saatva Solaire Mattress?

View of the Saatva Solaire mattress remoteOverall, this is a fantastic option for those that do not know what firmness level they prefer and for couples of varying preferences.

The Saatva Solaire airbed provides remotes that can customize firmness on both sides of the bed.

This mattress also provides a cooling ability that prevents sleepers from overheating while enjoying their sleep.

With good all-around edge support, people will not feel like they are about to fall off either.

How Firm is this Mattress?

With the level setting options on the Saatva Solaire, there are 50 different firmness options to choose from on each side of the mattress.

You can adjust the firmness to your preference on your controls, along with the head area position.

This creates the perfect firmness for you – you do not have to worry about picking a mattress online that you have never tried before because you will be able to choose exactly how you want it to feel.

How Many Layers Does it Have?

The entire mattress is enclosed in the air inflator, which is what operates your bed’s levels.

It communicates with your remote and quietly changes the head area height as well as firmness levels.

The base layer within the rails are air chambers within a box design to offer even support throughout the mattress.

Next are moisture barrier layers that protect the inside of the mattress from harboring bacteria.

On top of that is a memory foam infused with gel to keep sleepers cool.

The next layer is the Saatva 5-zone support in latex, giving a responsive and buoyant feel with relief pinpointed to pressure points.

The Saatva Solaire is topped off with a cotton pillowtop to add a final layer of cushion and breathability.

Does the Saatva Solaire Mattress Sleep Hot?

Because the mattress has multiple breathability functions built-in (gel-infused memory foam, organic cotton, moisture barriers, natural latex), the Saatva Solaire will not sleep hot.

In fact, this would be a pretty good choice for those that overheat at night, although its main focus is not airflow.

Unlike foam beds that are notorious for sleeping hot, the Saatva Solaire helps the user(s) to remain cool all night long!

How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?

For couples, the amount of motion transfer when their partner is getting up or tossing and turning can have a big impact on their own sleeping.

For the Saatva Solaire, motion transfer is minimal even when the two sides are set at varying firmness levels.

Sinkage depends on the firmness level a sleeper chooses, as a firmer setting will reduce sinkage while a softer setting will increase it.

What you do not have to worry about is edge support, as that is uniform across the mattress.

Does the Saatva Solaire Mattress Smell When New?

Because the Saatva Solaire is made of many natural materials and has white glove delivery, you shouldn’t expect much, if any, off-gassing.

However, don’t be surprised if you experience a chemical smell out of the box.

The mattress comes in a full-sized box and isn’t compressed very much to begin with.

If you do experience a smell, simply let it air out for a day or so.

Does it Require a Foundation?

View of the Saatva Solaire mattress from up aboveThe Saatva Solaire does require a foundation and works best on an adjustable base to fully experience all the functionalities of the mattress.

Foundations provide support and protection that the mattress needs to last as long as it can.

If you do not use a proper foundation, you may void the warranty – so before finding a foundation, be sure to consult your paperwork.

Saatva does offer an adjustable base if you would like to look at an option that would already be a suitable match.

What Type of Cover does it Have?

The cover is made up of a cotton pillow top like the Saatva HD.

While it is not removable, it adds an extra layer of cushion and support, with breathability to maximize the airflow in the mattress.

Its organic, soft materials add a nice finishing touch to the mattress.

How Durable is the Saatva Solaire Mattress?

The materials used in the Saatva Solaire are extremely durable and built to last.

However, it is worth noting that airbed components can be a little more fragile than steel coils.

We fully expect this mattress to last quite a long time without any issues.

Since this mattress comes with a warranty and trial period (discussed below), you should expect it to last a while regardless of circumstances.

Purchasing a Saatva Solaire means you receive a 25-year warranty, a 180-night trial period, and white glove delivery with setup.

For a mattress that can be heavy and tricky to maneuver on your own, the white glove delivery is a good perk.

The delivery team will also take your old bed and dispose of it, so you do not have to worry about it.

Saatva Solaire Mattress Review – Our Verdict

The Saatva Solaire offers premium adjustable firmness options with luxury materials to provide a customizable option for those that can’t decide on a sleeping firmness.

Those that are unsure of whether or not they will like an online mattress tend to like this one more since it is customizable.

Best of all, a premium feature like the custom firmness we find doesn’t have a huge negative impact on the price!

For couples, this is a good option and allows for personalization without affecting the other person.
