The Brentwood Home Hybrid Latex mattress is a simple, environmentally-friendly mattress designed from recycled products and natural materials.
Most different types of sleepers will enjoy this mattress because of its balance between the cushioned latex and the support of the individually wrapped coils underneath.
It will keep most people pleasantly cool and should never make sleepers feel that they are “stuck” within the mattress!
While couples might not like the motion transfer, they will surely love the edge support that is offered (especially if one partner takes up most of the bed through the night).
For an eco-conscious option, the cost of the Hybrid Latex mattress is not very expensive and is one of the better options in terms of quality across the industry.
What Type of Mattress is the Brentwood Hybrid Latex Mattress?
The Brentwood Hybrid Latex is a budget-friendly and eco-friendly mattress made here in the United States.
It is made from recycled water bottles, upcycled denim, and features a 3-zoned latex foam support system.
Additionally, the mattress utilizes organic cotton and wool with a flax fiber pad for durability and sustainability.
How Firm is this Mattress?
The Hybrid Latex mattress offers a luxury balance of support and comfort.
With that being said, we would rate this mattress at about a 7 on the firmness scale from 1 to 10 (10 being very firm).
Usually, latex is naturally firmer than memory foam beds.
When combined with the pocketed coils, this mattress will feel very supportive.
How Many Layers Does it Have?
With four layers (compared to the eight layers of the Oceano mattress) the Hybrid Latex is a bit more simple in its construction.
It begins with a recycled denim base that is both breathable and eco-friendly.
Sitting on top of the denim layer is the section of supportive coils made from recycled steel.
These are individually wrapped and provide suitable edge support along with pressure relief for sleepers.
The next transition layer is the flaxseed fiber pad that works to balance out the comfort of the top layers with the supportive bottom layers.
On top of this is a 4” layer of naturally-sourced latex and is also where the zoned support is introduced.
Last but not least, the layer underneath the cover is made of natural wool for adding plushness and acts as a fire-retardant bonus.
In summary:
- Recycled cotton denim pad.
- Pocketed innerspring unit.
- Flax fiber pad.
- Natural latex.
- Natural wool quilt.
Does the Brentwood Home Hybrid Latex Mattress Sleep Hot?
Because most of the design of the Hybrid Latex mattress is made of natural materials and excludes chemicals, this mattress should fairly naturally regulate temperature for sleepers.
Latex is one of the coolest materials to sleep on as it does not trap heat, and the wool and cotton only help.
How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?
Compared to the Oceano and Cypress Memory Foam mattresses, there is quite a bit of motion transfer.
Without any thick foams to subdue the bounce from the coils, couples might not enjoy being able to feel their partner move through positions throughout the night.
On the other hand, the coils that allow for motion transfer prevent sinkage.
Sleepers most likely will never feel like they are sinking into the Hybrid Latex at all and should feel very much supported.
With the individually wrapped steel coils, edge support is extended through the length of the mattress as well.
Does this Hybrid Latex Mattress Smell When New?
As we have mentioned in other reviews, the more natural the composition of a mattress, the less likely it is that it will need time to off-gas.
However, most people buying the Hybrid Latex should not have an issue with a chemical smell.
If there is some sort of strange odor, leaving it to decompress for a few hours before sleeping on it should get rid of it completely.
Does it Require a Foundation?
Most mattresses require some type of foundation to extend its life and maintain its shape.
For the Hybrid Latex, we recommend utilizing a slatted base or some sort of platform foundation as a base.
If you are interested in Brentwood Home foundations, they do offer a couple of options to choose from.
However, also be sure to check out our top 5 adjustable bases!
What Type of Cover does it Have?
The Brentwood Hybrid Latex mattress utilizes recycled plastics to form a performance fabric as a cover.
While that may seem uncomfortable, it is widely used in some of the most popular luxury brands around the world.
The fabric is soft and breathable, while still being as durable as the rest of the mattress.
How Durable is it?
Although the Hybrid Latex mattress is fairly new, we estimate that the mattress will last quite a long while.
What we tend to see is that the more natural the materials in a mattress, the longer the mattress is to survive without needing to be replaced.
The Hybrid Latex mattress is a good long term investment.
How Much Does the Brentwood Home Hybrid Latex Mattress Cost?
Compared to the Oceano (Brentwood’s other hybrid mattress), this is the slightly cheaper option – but for a reason.
The Hybrid Latex does not offer quite as many complexities or natural products.
However, we see it as more of a simple option to choose within the Brentwood line.
Here is the current price list:
Warranty & Trial Period
Brentwood Home offers a 1-year long sleep trial period for customers to try out the Hybrid Latex mattress.
For the most part, this is a pretty long trial period when compared to other brands.
Additionally, they offer a 25-year warranty on their mattresses to replace mattresses with any defects during the entire length of time.
They boast free shipping and optional white glove delivery as well which can be added at checkout.
Brentwood Home Hybrid Latex Mattress Review – Our Verdict
While the Hybrid Latex is a bit cheaper than the Oceano, it is not by much.
For many people, we would recommend spending the extra money to “upgrade” to the Oceano because it has slightly better bang for your buck.
With only four layers, the Hybrid Latex is quite a bit more simple in design and its offerings compared to the other Brentwood mattresses available.
If you are looking more for a memory foam feel, you might consider checking out the Cypress Memory Foam.
On the other hand, if you are more interested in a vegan or completely organic option, try the Brentwood Cedar or Crystal Cove mattresses!
