The Lull Mattress combines therapeutic foam for support and durability with gel-infused, viscoelastic memory foam to create a cool and comfortable night’s sleep.

Manufactured in the United States from locally sourced materials, the Lull Mattress offers a premium sleeping experience at a discount mattress price.

What Type of Mattress is the Lull?

The Lull Mattress is a durable and comfortable memory foam mattress that offers the right level of comfort for all sleepers.

It uses a unique three-layer design that provides long-lasting comfort and support while providing temperature regulation and cooling relief.

The three Layers are;

Base Layer – The base foundation of the mattress Lull has designed is made from 7” polyurethane foam which prevents sagging is durable and adds support.

Mid Layer – This transition layer is made from a 1.5″ foam blend for even more support and added motion distribution.

Top Layer – This cool 1.5″ gel-infused memory foam top layer is designed to absorb and distribute heat from the body as well as support pressure points.

You can read more about these layers further on when we discuss in detail how the Lull Mattress is structured.

Designed to support your spine in any sleeping position, the Lull Mattress also prevents heat-trapping during sleep, resulting in sleep that is free from tossing and turning.

How Firm is It?

Lull mattress label closeupThe Lull Mattress is designed to offer a “just right” feel – not too firm, not too soft – that provides universal comfort to all sleepers.

The top gel foam layer provides a soft, cushy feel and is supported by the therapeutic foam blend interior layer and the larger polyurethane foundation layer.

This ensures that the body is cradled in comfort while also getting the firm support that keeps the spine in the proper alignment throughout the entire night.

Does the Lull Mattress Offer Good Motion Isolation?

Designed to prevent being jolted by a partner’s movement throughout the night, Lull mattresses offer very good motion isolation. With three layers of foam support, they have performed very well in bounce and movement tests.

How is the Lull Mattress for Edge Support?

When compared to some other memory foam and bed in box products, the Lull mattress offers excellent edge support. For couples who like to sleep at the edges of the bed then the Lull won’t give you that feeling that you are going to end up on the floor as some mattresses do.

Will the Lull Mattress get hot While Sleeping?

the lull mattress reviewed from the frontThe Lull Mattress was designed to provide a cool and comfortable night’s sleep, with a 1.5” gel-infused, viscoelastic memory foam top layer that not only cradles you and provides pressure relief for your joints but also provides enhanced airflow to draw heat away from your body and keep you cool all night.

How Long Will It Last?

The 7” polyurethane foam support core in the Lull Mattress means that you can rest easy for 10 years or more before having to worry about a new mattress.

The high quality of all of the foams and materials used in the mattress provides a sleeping experience that is free of sagging or “dents” in your mattress, and Lull offers a 10-year limited warranty to ensure that the mattress will be at its top performance for the entire period.

Is There a “New Mattress” Smell?

Most foam mattresses can be expected to have a slight chemical smell (“off-gassing”) when first used, and the Lull is no different.

The smell derives from the manufacturing process and is completely harmless as certified by CertiPUR-US.

CertiPUR-US logoDepending on how sensitive you are to smells, you may notice a slight “plastic scent” after first unboxing and setting up your Lull Mattress, but it usually dissipates within a couple of days.

In case you do notice a smell after your mattress is set up, you can simply remove all of the sheets and blankets from the mattress and open the windows to provide some airflow – this will remove the odor faster and it won’t ever come back.

How is the Lull Mattress Structured?

Made from foams that have been tested and certified to ensure the highest quality and no harmful chemicals, the Lull Mattress is made up of 3 distinct and high-performing layers.

  1. The layers explainedThe comfort layer is made up of 1.5 inches of gel-infused memory foam that pulls heat away from the body and provides pressure relief for your back, neck, and joints.
  2. The 1.5-inch transition layer is made up of a proprietary mixture of premium foams that provides even weight distribution and correct spinal alignment.
  3. The foundation of the mattress is in the 7” support layer, which is made up of high-quality polyurethane foam, which provides strength and support to the mattress, and keeps your sleeping experience free of sagging or dropping while limiting motion transfer.

The entire mattress is covered in an ultra-premium, handcrafted cover that is designed to provide comfort, stretch, and flexibility.

This cover is made of high-quality materials in the USA, is fire resistant, and can be removed for the spot-cleaning of any stains.

What Are the Available Sizes?

The Lull Mattress is available in all standard sizes and is compressed and rolled into a box the size of a mini-fridge for easy shipment to your door.

The Lull Mattress delivery boxAvailable sizes include:

  • Twin (38” x 75” x 10”)
  • Twin XL (38” x 80” x 10”)
  • Full (54” x 75” x 10”)
  • Queen (60” x 80” x 10”)
  • King (76” x 80” x 10”)
  • California King (72” x 84” x 10”)

Shipping should take 3-4 business days.

Once your Lull mattress arrives Lull recommends removing it from the box within 3 weeks of receiving it.

Does It Require a Special Foundation?

The Lull Mattress doesn’t require any special surface and can be used on any hard surface, including bed frames (platform or slatted), a box spring, or even the floor.

The three foam layers will adjust to any surface to provide their support. Just make sure the surface is even and free from sharp protrusions which could damage the foam.

Can I Use a Mattress Pad?

Yes, mattress pads can be used with this memory foam mattress, and Lull beds actually recommend that you use some form of protection to keep your mattress clean and in top working condition.

This would include the use of zippered allergen cases, as well.

How Do I Care for The Mattress?

Caring for your Lull mattress is easy and hassle-free.

There is no need to flip or rotate the mattress, as it has been designed to provide the ultimate support and comfort for its full guaranteed life of 10 years.

Any stains that might occur can be spot-cleaned with a mild soap or detergent without removing the cover, making sure to allow the area to be completely dry before using the mattress again. The top cover can be removed for easier cleaning.

Is Satisfaction Guaranteed?

Lull backs up their promise of the best night’s sleep that you’ve ever had with a 100-night trial period.

If you don’t like your mattress for any reason, Lull will pick it up for free and refund your full purchase price.

The mattress will be recycled according to the standard set by the Mattress Recycling Council.

mattress recycling council logoThis zero-risk guarantee is not very common as usually, the manufacturer leaves the customer with some expense, a return shipping fee, or a restocking fee.

Without any costs whatsoever, trying the mattress at home becomes easier and a much more useful experience than trying a mattress for a few minutes in a brick & mortar shop (with a pushy salesperson looking at you).

What About a Warranty?

The Lull Mattress is backed by a 10-year limited warranty from the date of purchase and protects from any defects or flaws in the mattress or the cover that are not caused by the normal wear and tear of everyday use.

The minimum indentation, or body print, required for a warranty claim is just 1 inch, which is about average for this mattress category.

In addition, the company enjoys a BBB rating of A+, the maximum available.

This means that over the past years, there haven’t been any complaints about the company, its products, or its customer service.

Who is Behind the Brand Lull?

Lull was established in 2015 by CEO Sven Klein with the aim of disrupting the mattress industry, obviously for the better! The Santa Barbara-based company has a reputation for great customer service with the goal to offer a ‘premium sleeping solution at a fraction of the cost of a traditional mattress.’

As well as mattresses Lull also has a product line of other bed products including; pillows, mattress protectors, sheets, and bed frames.

Who Would Benefit from a Lull Mattress?

If you are in the market for a new mattress and looking for an affordable product with a good reputation that is made in the USA then Lull would be a great place to start.

While many other brands make grand claims regarding their mattresses Lull back it up with their 100 night trial period so even if Lull doesn’t match up to your expectations you can sleep safe in the knowledge that you can return the mattress after testing it out.

As the mattress is a well-designed combination of memory foam which offers the softness and polyurethane foam which is firmer you get a nicely balanced firmness somewhere in the middle which is ideal for most people.

Factor in the gel-infused viscoelastic top layer of the mattress that enhances airflow, drawing heat away from your body you can expect a cool and comfortable night’s sleep even when the weather gets warmer.

Stomach sleepers, side sleepers, and back sleepers all should feel at home with this Lull mattress.

Back and stomach sleepers will appreciate the combination of body contouring and firmness which will help maintain proper alignment of the hips and shoulders so that they will wake up pain-free in the morning.

For side sleepers, the Lull mattress could also be an excellent choice. The comfort layers ensure that not too much pressure is put on the hips and shoulders while the firmer base layer ensures proper spinal alignment for side sleepers.

So who wouldn’t the Lull mattress benefit?

The mattress is designed to support a couple who weigh up to 250lbs each, so if you are heavier than this you might want to consider other mattresses. As the mattress hits that sweet spot of not to firm and not too soft then if you prefer the beds at extra soft or extra firm ends of the scale again this Lull mattress might not be the best for you.

Lull Mattress Review – Our Verdict

We think the Lull mattress is a good all-round product that should be able to satisfy the sleeping needs of the vast majority of people, memory foam veterans, and newbies alike.

With Lull mattresses 10-year warranty and 100-night trial, you have nothing to lose by giving this memory foam mattress a try.

As it doesn’t disappoint on any front, we deem it very good quality for the money especially with the current promotion for $250 off resulting in Queen for just $799.

Can it be used on adjustable bed with massage?

      Hi Angela,

it can be used on an adjustable bed, but I’m not sure about the massage part. If it’s just vibration it might work.

I’m really interested in a lull – a king in fact! – but I know I’m going to be moving in a year or so. One of the appeals of the lull is that it can easily be brought up stairs that a king-sized mattress wouldn’t normally fit. But how do I get it out when I need to move?

      Hi Jessica,

It will be hard to move it out if the door is much smaller than the mattress’ shortest diagonal… You can fold it in 2, but you’ll need some help because of the weight and the strength needed to hold it.

This all sounds wonderful, but how am I suppose to get rid of the old mattress. Most mattress stores, deliver the mattress and then take the old mattress away.

      Hi Kipton,

Usually people donate their old mattresses to some charities, but I understand it might not be an option everywhere. If that’s the deal breaker for you, you should opt for a brand offering the mattress removal, like Tomorrow Sleep for example.

I know you have 100 night guarantee if not you can send it back. My question is what are the stipulations that you would take it back, how do you protect your mattress so there won’t be any marks on it that would void you taking it back. A lot of places if you have one little mark on your mattress your warranty is void which really makes no sense because the mattress is disposed of anyway.

      Hi Bonnie,

this boils down to the seriousness of the manufacturer. From what we hear, Lull is a trustworthy company and doesn’t play silly games.

We have a king bed (not a Lull) and there is now a bump in the middle of the bed — or perhaps indentations on the sides where we sleep. Will this happen on a Lull?

If not satisfied, in 100 days, how would I ship it back? Surely wouldn’t fit back into original container.
