In this review we look at the Nectar Lush mattress, the newest product made by Nectar Sleep.

The brand became prominent in the past couple of years thanks to the enormous success of their Original Nectar mattress.

As always, the Nectar brand’s amazing trial period and warranty are a big plus and applies to the Nectar Lush mattress as well.

This mattress is more expensive than the original, even though the pricing seems to be a little skewed towards the larger sizes.

People who need good edge support and very little motion transfer at all, such as couples, tend to love this mattress.

However, those that are looking for extremely soft or firm beds might not like the Nectar Lush as much as others.

What Type of Mattress is the Nectar Lush Mattress?

The Nectar Lush mattress is meant to be a step up from the Original Nectar mattress.

the Necatr Lush mattress in a nice roomThis is a foam bed that has a minimal level of motion transfer and an above-average level of firmness when compared to many other foam beds.

With more cooling technologies and updated layers, this memory foam mattress offers a good balance of support and softness at the same time.

All types of sleepers can experience full ranges of comfort with the three layers of premium foam we find in this bed.

How Firm is this Mattress?

Unlike other luxury mattresses that tend to run on the firmer side, this mattress is fairly soft.

On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being extremely firm), we’d give it about a 5.5.

The memory foam allows sleepers to sink in just enough that their pressure points are relieved.

If you are seeking a very firm mattress, getting a foam bed like this one is almost always a bad idea.

How Many Layers Does it Have?

The Nectar Lush Mattress has 5 total layers.

View of the Nectar Lush mattress layers

Starting from the ground up, the top three layers are stacked on top of a sturdy and supportive base.

The next layer is made up of Energex, which is thick memory foam with quick recovery.

Next up is the Aquacool layer, a memory foam section that’s coated in gel to provide airflow and cooling features.

Finally, the last layer is the Nectar cover, which is thin and cool to allow hot air to escape.

In summary:

  1. Cooling cover
  2. Aquacool memory foam
  3. Energex memory foam
  4. Additional foam layer
  5. Stabilizing base

Does the Nectar Lush Mattress Sleep Hot?

While there are certain breathable elements like the Aquacool layer and thin cover, this mattress doesn’t do the best job at maintaining its coolness throughout the night.

Being a memory foam mattress means that it naturally holds on to heat, although those elements do their best to combat it.

For that reason, we do think this mattress is lacking a little in what it could do in terms of heat control.

However, for those that overheat occasionally, but aren’t looking for an overly firm mattress, the Nectar Lush is probably a good option.

How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?

With the amount of memory foam layers, it is no surprise that there is very little motion transfer.

the corner is solid

Couples will love this mattress, as they most likely won’t be woken up very often from their partner getting out of bed during the night.

On the other hand, there is quite a bit of sinkage when laying or sitting on the bed.

Because it doesn’t have a coil layer within it, there’s nothing giving sleepers any sort of bounce to make it easier to change sleeping positions or getting out of the bed in general.

For this reason, this mattress is not a good idea for those who like to sleep on top of their bed.

Does the Nectar Lush Mattress Smell When New?

With any memory foam mattress, you will likely experience some sort of odor from the mattress after first opening the packaging.

However, this smell should not last very long at all and will dissipate faster when left to air out for a day or so before using.

All Nectar Sleep foams are certified by CertiPUR-US, which ensures that no harmful chemical elements are diffused by the mattress.

Does it Require a Foundation?

The Nectar Lush mattress does require some form of foundation, although the brand boasts that it is fit for any type of frame – whether it is a box spring, adjustable base, or platform.

Realistically, you don’t need to have a foundation if you purchase this mattress!

The Nectar Adjustable Bed is a great adjustable bed from the same manufacturer to use!

What Type of Cover does it Have?

If you remember our Original Nectar mattress review, there was a fairly dense memory foam cover on the mattress.

A hand pushing down on the Nectar Lush's cover

Nectar has since improved and gone with a thin, much more breathable fabric for the Nectar Lush.

It is specially formulated to allow air to travel through to cool the sleeper at night.

How Durable is the Nectar Lush Mattress?

Because the Nectar Lush has more durable materials than the original, you can expect this mattress to last a bit longer.

With proper maintenance (cleaning and rotating a few times a year) this mattress should last consumers quite a long time.

This mattress has strong materials and is put together with a high-quality construction process.

All of these factors put together imply that this mattress can last a considerably long time.

Warranty & Trial Period for the Nectar Lush Mattress

Another plus to this mattress is the standard Nectar trial period of 365 nights and a “Forever Warranty” that covers all manufacturing defects.

This means that you have a full year to decide if this is the right mattress for your needs.

After that time, any defects that come about are covered by the “Forever Warranty.”

Across the board, this is a great trial period and warranty that you won’t find with most other mattresses.

How Much Does the Nectar Lush Mattress Cost?

The Nectar Lush mattress costs a little bit, which is to be expected when you get a high-quality foam bed.

Currently, Nectar Sleep offers a discount of $399 + 2 free pillows, sheets and protector! Just use our code TEDVIP at checkout to get these special prices:

As a whole, we find this mattress to be a little more expensive than average.

Nectar Lush Mattress Review – Our Verdict

As a whole, this mattress has a nice level of plush comfort, doesn’t transfer motion, and has a high level of durability.

A happy family on the mattressThose that overheat will appreciate the breathable Aquacool layer and thin cover along with multiple separate layers of plush foam.

Heavier folk might miss the extra support coils would offer, so we would only recommend this mattress to people of lighter weights or those who don’t mind sinking in a little bit.

When paired with the Nectar Adjustable Bed, you can unlock the full potential of a premium foam bed like this one.

When compared to other popular foam beds, this one stands out for its breathability and minimal motion transfer.
