The Tempur-LuxeAdapt is a great mattress for anybody who has a larger-than-average budget and loves the feel of the Tempur-Pedic brand.

This is an all-foam mattress which has different layers that combine to adapt to the natural shape of your body.

For the ultimate level of sinkage into your bodies deepest contours, the Tempur-LuxeAdapt mattress can be purchased as ‘soft.’

Those who desire a firmer mattress can purchase their LuxeAdapt as ‘firm’ for a little more support.

In either case, this is a mattress where you will sink a little more than average.

What Type of Mattress is the Tempur-LuxeAdapt?

front view of the Tempur-LuxeAdapt mattress

The LuxeAdapt is an all-foam mattress from Tempur-Pedic, one of the mattress industry’s longest-serving and widely-trusted brands.

This model is slightly more expensive than other Tempur-Pedic mattresses, but for good reason.

At least if your budget is higher than normal.

The LuxeAdapt has more foam than many other Tempur-Pedic mattresses.

This mattress sinks a little more than average, but this also adds the extra support necessary for those who suffer from chronic pain anywhere in their body.

SmartClimate Dual Cover System

This mattress is very easy to maintain thanks to the SmartClimate Dual Cover System.

The stretchable cover provides a great level of protection to the inner mattress.

When it comes time to clean the cover, you can easily take it off and put it back in place after washing it.

The cover both adds life to the mattress by protecting the inner-foam and helps keep you cool while you sleep.

How Firm is this Mattress?

Those who seek a firm mattress generally will steer away from the Tempur-LuxeAdapt since these mattresses are softer than normal.

This is due to Tempur-Pedic’s all-foam design which doesn’t contain any metal springs in the interior.

Many people who suffer from back problems in particularly love softer mattresses like the Tempur-LuxeAdapt since they allow their backs to be fully supported.

Although this mattress can be purchased as ‘firm,’ it doesn’t quite match up to firmer designs like the IDLE Sleep Latex.

How Many Layers Does it Have?

This mattress comes with the standard Tempur-Pedic mattress layers which are completely all-foam.

layers of the Tempur-LuxeAdapt mattress

The Tempur-LuxeAdapt’s first layer works as both a climate-regulator and cover. This zip-off and cool cover help keep you cool at night.

Underneath the cover, the Tempur-LuxeAdapt mattress contains two different layers of foam.

The first Tempur-ES Comfort Layer is the softest layer of Tempur-Pedic foam. When combined with the other layers, this is the portion which really causes you to sink in the most.

Finally, the Tempur-APR+ Support Layer works to add a final layer of tighter and firmer support to keep you on, and not inside the bed.

The layers of the Tempur-LuxeAdapt include:

  • A: SmartClimate Dual Cover System
  • B: Tempur-ES Comfort Layer
  • C: Tempur-APR+ Support Layer

Does the Tempur-LuxeAdapt Bed Sleep Hot?

One of the common complaints with an all-foam mattress like this one is that it can tend to get a little toasty.

Although the cover works to add a little coolness into your sleep, it is worth mentioning that this mattress sleeps a little hotter than normal.

If you are a sleeper who prefers to sleep hot, then, this is a great choice for you to consider.

Anybody who is worried about purchasing a mattress which will be too hot, though, tends to look elsewhere.

How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?

When it comes to eliminating motion transfer, this is one area where this mattress really stands out.

Tempur-Pedic beds are famous for having almost no motion transfer whatsoever.

This means you can sleep with somebody who moves a lot in their sleep and never feel a thing.

One result of this feature, though, is that a mattress like this will provide a lot more sinkage than average.

Although this can be great for people who need support on all the contours of their body, others find it annoying.

If you are concerned that the sinkage may become problematic, you can buy the ‘firm’ LuxeAdapt mattress for a little bit more of a sleep-on-top feel.

Does it Have any Smell?

The LuxeAdapt mattress comes with a pretty noticeable smell when it is fresh out of the box.

Just like many other all-foam mattresses, the LuxeAdapts experiences off-gassing during the production process.

As a result, anybody who wants to purchase this mattress should allow a week or so of airing out before they can receive the full experience of their new mattress.

In most cases, the smell doesn’t bother new owners that much. After all, if it does you can simply wait a little bit of time before it’s gone.

Does it Require a Foundation?

the Tempur-Pedic LuxeAdapt mattress

When you purchase this mattress, you will need to purchase a separate foundation in order to use it properly.

Those who want to take advantage of the Tempur-Pedic mattress warranty will need to provide proof of a quality foundation before filing a claim for defects.

You can use a box spring, adjustable base like the IDLE Sleep Adjustable base, or standard foundation of your choosing.

In either case, make sure to purchase a foundation for this mattress if you think you may need to file a warranty claim in the future

What Type of Cover does it Have?

This mattress comes with its own special cover which is designed to help promote a cooler sleeping experience.

The cover comes with a zipper and is stretchable, making it easy to remove for cleaning purposes.

As we can see, the cover of this mattress is one area where this mattress excels above many of its competitors.

Although the mattress cover is designed to help you sleep cool, remember that this mattress still tends to sleep a little hotter than average.

What is the Best Way to Care for the Tempur-LuxeAdapt?

One of the burdens of getting a premium mattress like this one from Tempur-Pedic is that it costs more than your typical mattress.

This is why it’s so important that you take the proper steps to maintain and care for your LuxeAdapt mattress.

The included cover of this mattress does a pretty good job at protecting the interior of the mattress.

For best results, you should consider adding an additional cover and using the standard cover for protection.

Most importantly, make sure to wipe off any spills or messes as they happen.

Since the mattress comes with a 10-year warranty, though, you won’t have to worry about defects becoming a problem.

The Durability of the LuxeAdapt Mattress

As a whole, Tempur-Pedic mattresses have a reputation for being able to withstand the test of time.

When used and maintained properly, the LuxeAdapt mattress is no exception.

It has the build and design to last an entire lifetime.

Best of all, the Tempur-LuxeAdapt comes with a 10-year warranty and a 120-day trial.

Should you run into any manufacturer defects, you can simply return it for a new one.

The Tempur-LuxeAdapt is Delivered to Your Door

One of the nice features about this mattress is that it ships to your door completely free of charge.

Once an order is placed, Tempur-Pedic usually processes your order within a day or so.

When payment is received and verified, it is shipped to your door within 5 – 7 business days.

Those who want to have 2nd day-air shipping can pay a little bit extra to receive their new mattress right away.

How Much Does the Tempur-LuxeAdapt Cost?

The Tempur-LuxeAdapt Mattress is not a great choice for those who have a tight budget.

This mattress is a little more expensive than your typical foam mattress.

If you are willing to pay the premium price, though, this Tempur-Pedic model contains more foam than one of their standard beds.

For a limited time, Tempur-Pedic offers an exclusive discount of $300! You can get it by typing our coupon code TED300 at checkout and access these low prices:

SizeRegular PriceDiscounted Price
Twin XL:$3,499$3,199

Cal King:$4,699$4,399
Split King:$6,998$6,698

If the price is too high, you might want to consider the Tempur-ProAdapt, which is still a higher than average mattress.

Tempur-LuxeAdapt Review – Our Verdict

The Tempur-LuxeAdapt Mattress is a great choice for anybody with a large budget.

Although this mattress is a little more expensive than your average mattress, it is also one of the best products that Tempur-Pedic has.

  • 13-inches of Tempur-Pedic foam
  • All-foam design with complete support
  • Washable cooling cover
  • 10-year warranty
  • 120-day trial period

The bed contains 13-inches of foam, making it denser than most mattresses. Best of all, it is an all-foam design.

Accordingly, this bed tends to sink a little bit more and sleep hotter than your typical mattress.

The bed comes with a 10-year warranty and 120-day trial period where you can decide if you truly want to pay for it and keep it.

As long as you are willing to invest a little bit more for a premium all-foam mattress, we see the Tempur-LuxeAdapt Mattress as a solid choice to consider.

This is NOT a mattress for anyone with back pain. My wife and I will soon be returning our Tempur-Luxe Adapt Mattress. Fortunately we bought from a very reputable dealer that offers exchanges.

We are in our 50’s/60’s and have NEVER had any back problems when sleeping. However, this mattress is so soft that neither of us can sleep in it for more than 6 or 7 hours without being woken up with pain. Worse yet, our first few steps out of bed in the morning are slow and with pain that thankfully wears off after an hour.
