Comprehensive Leesa Hybrid Mattress Review

In this review we are evaluating the Leesa Hybrid mattress, formerly known as Sapira.

This is the second mattress produced by the people who brought you the very famous and popular Leesa mattress.

A plush mattress that offers consumers a wide range of attractive features and a variety of benefits as well, the Leesa Hybrid is not only reasonably priced but is every bit comfortable and luxurious in style as well.

With its five layers of coils and foam providing a total thickness of 11 inches, and its exceptional firmness, feel and support, this mattress is fast making its way up the charts as one of the most favored mattresses of choice by consumers across the globe.

What type of Mattress is the Leesa Hybrid?

The Leesa Hybrid is a luxury hybrid memory foam mattress designed and developed with not only style and class, but with great comfort, support and the ability to provide relief from pain, especially back pain.

The multiple layers of foam keep this mattress feeling like new, year after year and delivers a level of comfort, according to our data, that most consumers rave about.

The Leesa Hybrid cover sports a single layer of fabric that surrounds the entire mattress and is constructed from a poly-Lycra blend.

The sapira mattress of our reviewThis unique blend presents with a stretchy, soft and highly breathable cover that is every bit attractive as it is durable.

This mattress allows just the right amount of sinkage in order to create pressure relief for those critical pressure points.

Whether a stomach, side or back sleeper, this innovative mattress does a great job of supporting all sleeping positions.

How Firm is it?

Unlike most other hybrid memory foam mattresses available on the market today, the Leesa Hybrid mattress is available with five unique layers of coils and foam which, according to our data, contributes greatly to its popularity.

The advanced pocketed coil system used in the Leesa Hybrid does a more than satisfactory job of supporting weight all along the perimeter.

Even when sleeping along the edge of this mattress, consumers will still feel completely supported, and the mattress offers a bounce well worth mentioning.

Though the motion transfer is greater than that of an all memory foam mattress, it is substantially less than that of other coil/hybrid mattresses as well as foams with a higher bounce.

How Many Layers does it have?

Quite a conforming, supportive mattress, the Leesa Hybrid is a mattress constructed with five different layers of coils and foam that easily mold and contour to bodies of all sizes. In total, the layers present with a total thickness of eleven inches.

  1. Sapira's layersThe top layer designed for comfort and cooling is 1.5 inches of high-density foam that easily dissipates heat created by sleepers and provides a high level of comfort and a very quick response.
  2. The second layer designed for contour and pressure relief is 1.5 inches of memory foam that simply adds extra benefits beneath the performance foam of the top layer.
  3. The third layer designed for transition is a transitional poly foam that measures in at 1 inch and delivers a smooth transition from the 2nd layer of memory foam to the 4th layer of pocketed coils.
  4. The fourth layer designed for support is a 6 inch layer of unique pocketed coils that afford sleepers specialized ‘zoned support.’ This layer provides extra support in those areas where you need it and less support in areas where you do not, a feature which contributes to the high popularity of this mattress.
  5. Finally, the fifth and bottom layer designed as a foundational support is a one inch layer of poly base foam that effectively supports the four layers above.

The five layers of coils and foam allow sleepers to enjoy a top-rated mattress that molds, supports and contours to bodies of all types and sizes for a restful sleep night after night.

How is Motion Transfer and Sinkage?

The Leesa Hybrid, outdoes other memory foam beds by absorbing motion easily causing little to no disruption by your partners moving.

Noticeable to some degree, but definitely not bad by any means, the motion transfer is greater than that of an all memory foam mattress but less than what you would get with other hybrid coil and higher bounce mattresses.

It in no way, however, hampers the sleep patterns of your partner.

With regard to sinkage, this unique hybrid mattress when lying on your back affords only 1.5 inches of sinkage, whereas when lying on your side presents with 2 inches of sinkage.

Further, when sitting on the edge of your Leesa Hybrid typically you will notice a mere 2.5 to 3 inch sinkage.

It is important to remember that sinkage results will vary depending upon body weight and type.

Does the Leesa Hybrid Sleep Hot?

Much like most other memory foam mattresses, the Leesa Hybrid does present with some minor heat retention issues.

However, according to our research, only 10% of owners reported bothersome and ongoing heat retention problem with their Leesa Hybrid mattress.

Does it have any Smell?

When you first take your Leesa Hybrid out of its packaging, there is a slight “new mattress” smell, and potentially a little off-gassing as a result of the manufacturing and packaging process.

CertiPUR-US logoHowever, the smell is gone within a few days and is not an ongoing issue at all. The Leesa Hybrid is an eco-friendly mattress and Certi-PUR certified as well.

Our research revealed a mere 12% of consumers reported issues with off-gassing but overall, the odor is minimal and does not hamper the primary features and benefits of this favored mattress.

Does It Require a Foundation?

The Leesa Hybrid has a unique fifth layer that acts as a solid foundation for this state of the art mattress.

The fifth layer is specifically designed to steadily support the above four layers and when placed on a firm and sturdy surface.

A solid base platform, a solid box spring, or even a Bunkie board on a traditional box spring provide optimum support for this stylish mattress.

The company does not give favor, however, to wired bases as a foundation for your mattress.

If you prefer, your Leesa Hybrid can be used directly on the floor but make certain it is not exposed to any type of moisture at all.

What Type of Cover Does It Have?

The sapira mattress coverThe Leesa Hybrid cover is constructed with a single layer of fabric that completely surrounds the mattress.

It is made of an innovative Poly-Lycra blend that presents with a soft, stretchy and very breathable cover offering both dependability and durability night after night.

The aesthetics of the Leesa Hybrid cover mirror that of its sister mattress, the Leesa, with a slight enhancement.

A beautiful off white color and multiple grey bars that create an eye-catching geometric pattern, adds a very nice touch to an already attractive cover.

What is the Best Way to Care for the Leesa Hybrid?

This hybrid memory foam mattress is a no flip mattress, as its layers are ordered in a specific way.

Rotating your mattress, however, from head to foot, can most assuredly prevent or, at minimum, combat any wear or sagging.

However, keep in mind, the heavy weight of this mattress would require more than one person to perform this recommended task.

Rotating it once per year can definitely contribute to the overall longevity and life expectancy of your mattress.

As for typical cleaning, simply use cool water and a mild dish detergent if your mattress becomes dirty or even stained and be certain to rub or blot the surface gently when attempting to remove any dirt.

What about Durability?

The Leesa Hybrid, as is the case with its sister mattress the Leesa, is manufactured right here in the USA.

Data available to us during our review indicated that the lifespan of the Leesa Hybrid fares much better than that of other hybrid memory foam and typical memory foam mattresses as well.

This premium mattress is manufactured with superior quality control standards that greatly contribute to the high quality of this mattress.

The information reviewed, suggests over 80% owner satisfaction.

I’m seeing a new Sapira for $400. I messaged seller and am waiting for response. Do you sell seconds? Is it likely that this item is counterfeit?

Hi Mark,

we don’sell anything, and I find it strange that a Sapira in new conditions goes for just $400. Also, be aware that the warranty is valid only for the original purchaser, So if there is anything wrong with the mattress (which is likely) you’ll have to keep it.

So how does this mattress rate in comparison to the Leesa for sex?

4

I own both of these mattresses, and I like the sapira much better. It’s easier to have sex on also, it does not sink in quite as much. The sapira feels like it will hold up longer over time.

Hi Rick,

let us know if you find out 😉

6

hi, i have some questions with the firmness.

7

The sapira is a very firm mattress, it has become softer the longer I have slept on it, but overall I would rate it 7.5 out of 10. The leesa was a 6 out of 10 to me, and it started soft. The sapira started as an 8.5 for the first month or so before it softened up some. Now I love it, its better than any bed I’ve had before, even my tempur-pedic I had for the past 10 years.
