Serta’s iComfort Blue 100 Gentle Firm mattress is part of the popular Serta iComfort series.
It is recognized for its ability to provide adequate support, without sacrificing comfort or quality.
Evercool memory foam ensures that the mattress remains cool in the summer months, allowing for a more comfortable sleep.
The mattress is crafted in four different layers, each designed to provide benefits in terms of things like comfort, pressure relief, breathability and sufficient support for tired, achy muscles.
The mid-level, premium-grade mattress boasts 9.75 inches in thickness.
The top layer (aka the ‘comfort zone’) is created using ¾ inch TempActive Gel Memory Foam to better regulate core body temperature and to encourage a peaceful, comfortable full-night’s sleep.
Next, a 2-inch layer of EverCool Fuse Memory Foam provides maximum breathability and allows air to flow freely in order to eliminate heat build up.
Third, a 1-in layer of Serta Balanced Support Foam lifts and supports every curve of your body – resulting in a pain-free sleep.
Lastly, each layer is held up by 6 impressive inches of Serta Ultimate Foam Core to not only provide a superior base but also to increase the lifespan of the mattress.
What Type of Mattress is the Serta iComfort Blue 100?
The Serta iComfort Blue 100 Gentle Firm is the most basic of the iComfort line – but that doesn’t mean it is a ‘basic’ mattress.
Made using multiple layers of memory foam, it is suitable for both back sleepers and stomach sleepers alike.
Despite being a foam mattress, it is more firm than soft – but still contours to the body creating maximum snugness and support.
Like all other Serta iComfort mattresses, the Blue 100 Gentle Firm comes complete with a 120-day in-home trial period.
How Firm is the Mattress? Will I Get a Good Nights Sleep?
The mattress is considered to be of ‘average’ firmness.
The benefit of having moderate firmness levels means that it is the ideal sleep solution for the largest variety of people.
Serta’s iComfort Blue 100 is created using four layers of modern foam technology to ensure a cool, comfortable sleep – every time.
This means that if you are prone to backaches, shift positions frequently throughout the night, or prefer to sleep on your back, you are guaranteed to wake feeling rested and refreshed.
What About Motion Transfer? Will I Wake My Partner if I Roll Over?
Gel Memory Foam and Fuze Memory Foam absorb motion transfer to isolate movement while regulating body temperatures.
This means that people who change positions frequently during the night won’t disturb their partner’s sleep.
It also means that people who have partners who give off body heat while they sleep don’t have to cuddle up next to the fan!
How are the iComfort Blue 100 Layers
All of the iComfort series mattress models are made using upgraded TempActive Max Gel memory foam.
The Blue 100, in particular, uses ¾ inch of this next generation comfort material.
- ¾ inch of TempActive Max Gel Memory Foam
- 2 inches of EverCool Fuze Memory Foam
- 2 inches of Serta Balanced Support Foam
- 6 inches of Serta Ultimate Edge Foam Core
TempActive Max Gel memory foam is the latest in comfort material. It facilitates a cooling sensation whenever your body hits the mattress.
The EverCool Fuze memory foam layer provides even weight distribution and excellent pressure relief.
Serta Balance Support Foam is new to the iComfort line, it helps to provide deeper pressure relief for heavier body types.
Does the iComfort Blue 100 Sleep Hot?
Gel-infused memory foam provides ample responsiveness and maximum airflow.
Unlike traditional memory foam, that decreases in comfort in warmer temperatures, this mattress dissipates heat faster to provide a consistent level of comfort.
Thick mattress protectors should be avoided because they interfere with the Serta iComfort Blue 100’s superior cooling technology.
How Long Will the Mattress Last?
Most memory foam mattresses are expected to last between eight and ten years.
The Serta iComfort Blue 100 Gentle Firm mattress comes complete with a 10 year, non prorated warranty, provided that the mattress has been registered on the Serta website.
The warranty covers things like sagging or body impressions of ¾ inch or greater, so long as the mattress has been continuously supported by an appropriate foundation and frame.

Serta iComfort Blue 100 Mattress Review – Our Verdict
Despite being the ‘standard’ model in the Serta iComfort collection, this mattress offers something for sleepers of all kinds.
This mattress is a reasonable solution for anyone desiring a comfortable, moderately firm mattress – for a price that won’t break the bank.
That being said, some customers have reported that the mattress takes a few days to ‘settle’ – Citing it as being a little too firm for the first few nights.
For all these reasons, we believe the Serta iComfort Blue 100 to be a good option for a wide variety of sleeper, especially considering the price tag of just $1,099 for Queen.
